FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Will Bussey Regulator’s 23 Delivers Powerful Performance and VersatilityEdenton, N.C.(October 2005) – Very few 23-foot boats can brave blue water one day, then turn around and fish inshore the next with just as much comfort and ease. But for the Regulator 23, it’s all in a day’s work. That’s the uncompromising spirit Regulator builds into every one of its authentic Carolina sportfishing boats. “Over the years, the 23 has really ‘wowed’ the center console market with its functionality and powerful performance,” said Regulator co-founder and President Joan Maxwell. “Its big-boat feel and attributes make it a truly versatile fishing machine.” Like all Regulators, the 23 comes in either the Classic open style or FS model with forward seating. The company redesigned the boat in 2005 to incorporate the latest in construction techniques, including a one-piece, fiberglass liner with molded scupper tubes to improve overboard drainage. At the working end of the boat, a splashwell door in the transom is flanked by a 48-quart bait box on each side, and a big hatch offers bilge access adjacent to a 25-gallon, in-sole livewell. All hatches are finished on both sides via a process called RTM (resin transferable molds) and are fitted with locking stainless steel handles and gas shocks. In the bow, a large anchor locker is standard. “The changes we decided to implement made the 23 an even stronger and more complete sportfisher,” said Maxwell. “Retooling a model is no small task, but we feel the enhancements were worth it.” Other improvements for 2006 include Yamaha Command Link instrumentation, which includes LCD data displays and a binnacle control with power trim. Stainless steel props and stainless steel Yamaha fuel/water separating filters come standard; the latter is a 20-micron filtration system that ensures bug-free fuel. The Regulator 23’s four-legged leaning post can be upgraded to an optional SuperSport leaning post. It incorporates tackle storage while maintaining the space-saving simplicity of the original. The SuperSport leaning post accommodates up to nine rods and has a flip-up seat with tackle storage, space underneath for a 94-quart cooler, and built-in footrest and backrest. What hasn’t changed is Regulator’s trademark soft and dry ride that comes from a deep entry forward, 24-degree deadrise at the transom and wide reverses chines. This great-looking sportfishing hull features an overall length of 23’4”, a beam of 8’4” and is strengthened by Regulator’s proprietary Fiberglass Grillage System for structural stability. Popular upgrades include the stylish and protective fiberglass T-top with anodized aluminum frame, pre-wired electronics box and Lee® Sidewinder outrigger bases; 16-foot outriggers with lay-down mounts; a custom fiberglass tackle center with integrated helm seating; Lenco® 12” x 12” trim tabs with a waterproof switch and indicator; Teleflex® tilt steering; and a Guest® Blue Water Battery Charger – a completely sealed, fully automatic, three-stage, electronic charger designed specifically for Regulator boats. Regulator’s line of 23- to 32-foot offshore sportfishing boats are available in both the Classic and FS (forward seating) series, and are highly recognized for quality craftsmanship and rugged durability. The company is a repeat recipient of the National Marine Manufacturer Association’s Marine Industry CSI Award for customer satisfaction in the Fiberglass Outboard Boats category.
