The Legendary Ride Meets The Latest In Technology —
The All-New Regulator 28 FS
Edenton, N.C. — Regulator Marine is pleased to announce the introduction of a completely new boat that combines the classic fishability of the venerable Regulator 26 and the latest in fishing innovations available today. Designed by the renowned naval architect Lou Codega, the all-new Regulator 28 FS incorporates a traditional transom bracket set on a hull that has an LOA of 27’ 7.5" and a beam of 9’5" making Regulator 28 one of the largest boats in its class.
"A transom bracket takes full advantage of the sharp bow entry and deep-vee hull design," commented designer Lou Codega. "With the 24 degree deadrise ahead of the powerful twin Yamaha F300’s, the boat offers an exceptionally soft ride with top speeds in excess of 60 mph while offering extraordinary efficiencies."
Regulator chose to power the new 28 FS with twin Yamaha F300 4-stroke V6 motors. This power choice represents Yamaha’s latest entry in the offshore outboard market. Yamaha claims these motors are lighter, offer more acceleration, and better fuel efficiencies than any outboard in its class.
Regulator 28 incorporates a flush deck for unobstructed fish-fighting egress of the entire cockpit area, forward and aft. There is plenty of storage, including a large in-deck lighted fishbox that doubles as a lockable rod storage area. In addition, there are 270 quarts of fishbox/stowage in the transom, and over 275 quarts under the forward seating.
Other features include 6’6" headroom in the console interior with electric marine head, as well as battery and electronics access panels. The integrated seating in the forward console is lower to accomodate passenger comfort and improve the operator’s forward vision. All the while concealing a 74 quart insulated drink box which drains overboard.
"The challenge was to keep what worked with our most popular model — the Regulator 26, including all the improvements in its 21 year production run, and apply the innovations of our latest models. Innovations like the fold-up transom seating of the Regulator 34, and combine these features with new ideas from our loyal owners to create a significantly better fishing platform." Explained Regulator Co-Founder, Owen Maxwell. "Essentially, taking the tried and true, and moving it towards what is new and better."
For safety and comfort, Regulator designed the forward seating to be lower, and incorporated integrated handrails that are angled for better grip in the deck-cap. Regulator also completely redesigned the console dash with an EZ View electronics face, and Command Link® Plus engine controls featuring 5-color LCD displays and push-button start/stop.
"This boat combines the good-looks, superior fit and finish, exceptional quality, and the latest in today’s offshore technology that all sport fishing enthusiasts have come to expect from Regulator," said Regulator President and Co-Founder, Joan Maxwell. "What is most important to me is that it continues the legacy of Regulator’s legendary soft ride. There will be no confusion – everyone will recognize the fact that our new 28 FS is most definitely a Regulator to its core."
