Fish Tales

"We purchased a 2003 Regulator 23 two summers ago and have enjoyed every second of it. Our second year of owning it, we were fishing the two days of the Ducks Unlimited Band the Billfish Tournament out of Morehead City, NC. The fishing was very slow for the entire fleet, with most boats being skunked, but not us. Too bad we weren't entered in the tournament. On the first day we caught several gaffer dolphin. Not too much of a big deal normally, but considering our biggest was in the low 20's and the one that finished 1st in the tournament was a 17# fish, we looked pretty good. The second day of fishing came about as we decided to go out again. Once again slow fishing dominated and very few billfish were caught. However, we hooked into a triple header sailfish, our first billfish on our own boat. Though we only caught and released one (one jumped off just before we could leader it) the day was an overwhelming success as we would have finished in the money had we been entered. Several of my friends came home that day flying a skunk flagafter being on much larger charter boats. Catching a billfish on your own has to be one of the best experiences of your life, one truly memorable one I will not soon forget. Since then, we've caught several sails and finally our first MARLIN this past summer. That boat has the greatest ride of any 23 footer out there and catches plenty of fish too. A great boat with so many great memories."
