For Old Lyme, Connecticut boater Chris Staab, his 2004 Regulator 32FS center console boat is the ultimate do-it-all platform. He runs it hard in the Northeast—from the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound to Block Island Sound and the offshore canyons—chasing sea bass, striped bass, fluke, blackfish, cod, yellowfin and bluefin tuna, along with sharks.

Chris didn’t arrive at Regulator by accident. His first boat was a 1973 20’ Mako he restored from the stringers up, followed by a 2000 Regulator 23 Classic he owned for five years before stepping up to his current 32FS in September 2020. Regulator, he says, “set the standard for me in terms of ride quality, safety and build,” and his next boat will most likely be a Regulator 34.

 

What keeps him loyal is the way the boat feels under way. “The weight, the ride and the overall feeling of safety are unmatched,” Chris says. The solid construction and deep-V hull deliver a smooth, predictable ride whether he’s running offshore or cruising close to home. It’s a center console fishing boat that feels overbuilt, stable, and ready for whatever the day brings—and, most importantly, one that always gets his family home safely.
