Flushing your outboard engines is one of the simplest yet most important steps in keeping them running strong on your Regulator center console boat. In this quick video, we break down how Yamaha and Regulator make the process easier than ever.
A question I always get asked is, how do I flush my outboard engines?
Well, Yamaha made that easy. On all Yamaha models, you have an external flush port located right on the engine, and what Regulator's done is that they've added the option available on all of their offshore models. They put a flush port located right inside the cockpit.
Now, having it inside the cockpit makes your life a lot easier. No more climbing over your transom to hook up your hose at the end of your day when you're done fishing or having a fun day out on the water.
When you're flushing your engines, the Yamaha Manual recommends 10 minutes per engine. I can do all kinds of things while the motors are getting flushed.
I recommend that you flush your motors every time you go out. One of the most important things is that you do not run your motors while you're flushing them. The pressure from the hose is actually enough to flush the whole motor to prevent things like corrosion or salt buildup on your thermostats.
Even in fresh water, you should be flushing your motors. You can still get things like mud, sand, or growth if you're not flushing your motors in fresh water.
We hope these tips help, and we look forward to seeing you out on the water.
