Regulator was one of the first center console boat manufacturers to offer colored hulls – and it all started because our founders wanted to show off their school spirit.

BOOK MY DEMO

In the South, college football allegiance and fandom runs deep. Regulator Co-founders Joan and Owen Maxwell were a house divided: University of Georgia Bulldogs (Owen) and UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels (Joan).

Thus the Regulator Red and Carolina Blue hull colors were born.

“It was our thought that red would photograph better, so all of our first hulls were Regulator Red in the early days,” said Joan Maxwell. “But we couldn't let our Georgia Bulldog have all the fun…so this Carolina Tar Heel put her foot down.”

Today, our top 5 hull colors are Storm Gray, Abaco Sky, Carolina Blue, Flag Blue and Laguna Blue. But we have a full selection, and we can always make a custom gelcoat to make sure there’s no doubt who’s at the helm.

SO WHICH HULL COLOR IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Our team weighs in…

“Picking the perfect hull color for your Regulator center console boat is about more than just personal preference,” says Keith Ammons, VP of Sales & Marketing at Regulator. “Often, the final choice gets a thumbs-up from the whole family. And many owners opt to match their hull to a larger boat, coordinate with their waterfront home, or go with a ‘lucky’ color that’s brought success on the water.”

Ammons says that geography also comes into play.

“We see many Florida center console boat owners choose to only gelcoat the top half of their hull or go with a light color since they’ve had other brands’ gelcoats get ‘chalky’ from baking in the sun,” says Ammons.

“Based on the quality materials and application techniques we use, there’s no need to worry! Choose the color you want - and go full hull if you want. Our factory processes and regular maintenance will keep the gelcoat looking like new for years.”

Northeast Sales Rep Tim Ford is quick to weigh in on color choices in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and throughout New England.

“Flag Blue is a classic color we see our Northeast owners choose time and time again,” says Ford. “And we love to see that color look entirely new with the addition of Black Powder Coating - now available on all models.”

So why is Storm Gray Regulator’s number one gelcoat color?

“Beast mode all the way,” says Drew Halford, Mid-Atlantic Sales Rep for Regulator Marine. “That Storm Gray hull is gutsy and elegant all at the same time - the perfect expression of a Regulator.”

Whether it’s a bold personal statement or a family-approved favorite, the right hull color can add personality and pride to your Legendary Ride. No matter what shade you choose, it’s going to look great carving through blue water on your Regulator center console boat.
