Cindy Milewski Nets Lady Angler Title in Florida!

This past Saturday we were back up in Stuart, FL fishing the ARC Kingfish, Dolphin & Whaoo tournament. We truly had an amazing day! And my wife Cindy was able to accomplish one of her goals for the 2019 tournament season, winning Lady Angler.
In the morning, we set the auto pilot on our Regulator 23 and made our way to our first spot, about 50 miles north of our dock.
7:00am was lines in and we were on top of some productive numbers that we marked in the past. We got our long line deployed and one downrigger out, and then the long line starts screaming! Cindy grabbed the reel and was ready to battle this King! We knew by its first run, this was a solid fish!
We pulled up our downrigger and turned to chase down this Smoker. He made two more screaming runs before we started gaining line back. Cindy worked the fish hard! We saw the leader and this beast seven feet from the boat. We were ready to stick the gaff in him, when, out of nowhere, a massive bull shark eats half of the Smoker.
Since we knew there were fish, we went back to the same spot and reset. Once again, before we even came close to getting out the spread, our long line got crushed again. Then after two massive runs, the hook pops.

Finally, we got a full spread out and we were fishing. Solid action continued for two hours. Grinding away. Putting Kings in the box. Released an AJ, plus a few ‘cudas.
Around 2:00pm, we headed back to weigh in. Cindy held on to 1st Place Lady Angler, and our largest King was 4th Place overall. This tournament was a huge accomplishment for both my wife and me, considering I had never fished or driven a boat in South Florida waters and just three seasons ago was the first time she’d ever fished.
We’ve come a long way and keep learning and getting better every with trip on our Regulator 23. We know it’s ready for battle when the conditions turn, it allows us to fish further away with confidence thanks to its Legendary Ride and making a 125-mile run is a piece of cake.
We truly had an amazing day out there and can’t wait for the next tournament on our 23.
